Your website is an extension of your client experience – it should feel welcoming, easy to navigate, and be designed with intention. But if you’re finding that bookings aren’t coming in as often as you’d like, your site might be the reason why.
After working with many beauty and wellness businesses, I’ve noticed a few common website mistakes that can silently turn potential clients away. The good news? They’re all fixable. Here’s what to look out for:
Your story is important, but your home page isn’t the place for your full biography. Potential clients visit your site to find out how you can help them, not to read your life story right away.
Fix it: Include a short, friendly intro that highlights how your services benefit your clients. Then, add a link to your About page for those who want to learn more. Think of your home page as a warm welcome – not the whole tour.
Beauty and wellness are visual industries. If your site is filled with blurry, outdated, or mismatched photos, it can leave potential clients questioning your professionalism.
Fix it: Invest in professional photography or use high-quality stock images that reflect your brand’s aesthetic. Your visuals should feel cohesive and speak to the experience clients can expect.
If someone has to scroll endlessly or click through multiple pages to book an appointment, chances are they’ll give up. Your booking button should be one of the first things they see.
Fix it: Place a clear “Book Now” button at the top of your home page. Consider adding one to your services page and footer as well. The easier you make it, the more likely they’ll commit.
Your website isn’t just a digital business card – it’s a space to tell your story, share your approach, and highlight what sets you apart. Without enough content, visitors may leave without understanding why you’re the right fit for them.
Fix it: Make sure your site includes:
A messy website can feel overwhelming and unprofessional. Too many buttons, crowded text, or inconsistent fonts can distract visitors from what really matters.
Fix it: Keep your design clean and simple. Use whitespace strategically, stick to 2-3 fonts, and organize your content into easy-to-read sections. A well-designed site builds trust and guides clients effortlessly.
With most visitors browsing from their phones, a site that doesn’t adjust to mobile screens can frustrate potential clients.
Fix it: Check your website on multiple devices. If it’s hard to navigate or images don’t resize properly, update your design to be mobile-responsive. This ensures a seamless experience no matter how someone finds you.
If these website mistakes feel familiar, you’re not alone. And you don’t have to fix it all yourself. At Destinee Design, we love creating websites that reflect the heart of your beauty or wellness business – so you can focus on what you do best.
